Ping is on air right now on www.radiodada.hk

在香港認識一位新朋友李永銓(Tommy Li),是一位非常獨特的設計創意人。他邀請我到他在他餐廳附設的一個網路電台受訪。如果有興趣聽我們的談話,可以在此上網看。http://www.radiodada.hk/#archive/dih20110518

Radiodada的成功,我們可以看到,網路電台已經取代傳統的電台。

  1. Dear Sunny:

    Thank you for your feedback.

Please don’t forget we also can design our life.

The ideal world is to use no bottled water, glass or not glass. However, we know we are not living in an ideal world. Life with no design or aesthetic sensibility is a life without imagination, but only existence.

Again, we should never judge people. We all should live a life we choose to, not have to.

    Love,

    Ping

  2. Dear Ping,

Thank you for taking time to answer my question.
I know you are a big fan of design, espacilly beautiful, useful and simple design, right?! : )
I like design too, and I still learning how to appreciate them.

Glass bottle is good, as you said, we can reuse it and it also can be recycled. Although we are not the people who are 100% enviroment-friendly, we still try our best to protect the earth.

I haven’t been to Nonzero, but it attract me a lot. Wish I could have a meal in Nonzero one day!

    Thank you so much.
    Love, Sunny

  3. Dear Sunny:

Excellent question. I want to thank you to give me this opportunity to answer this bewildered question.

I have to be honest with you. I fall in love with the design of the Antipodes bottle first. I am a sucker for beautiful designed thing.

Personally, I think Antipodes water bottle is the best looking bottle I’ve ever seen.

I also fall in love with Antipodes’s owner by his most gracious character and holistic business philosophy. Antipodes is a small premium artisan water company.

I do have concern on the sustainability of the bottled water we use. This is why I stop using and selling the award winning design plastic bottle OGO water.

Antipodes Water is a beautifully crafted ” Glass ” bottle which will be recycled or degraded back to silicon earth.

The only problem is the weight for shipping cost and the energy used to produce glass.

As you can read from the attached email exchange, Antipodes is the first glass bottled water to grant Carbon Neutral from New Zealand government.

I encourage all Nonzero guests to take Antipodes bottle home and reuse the bottle for other decoration purpose. It is a good souvenir for your Nonzero experience.

Again, I am not defending why I use Antipodes. I just like things that are beautiful and share with our guests.

Nonzero Restaurant is not 100% organic restaurant. I am not a 100% organic consumer. I just think we should live a life of our choice. This is why I never condemn anyone who is not so environment friendly. It is this tolerance and protection to the free spirit that eventually will win over the conscience of human being.

Have you been Nonzero? I am so happy that we can make a new statement about gourmet healthy eating in Taipei. You will like to see so many people got my message and vote with what they buy.

Be the change is still the best way to change the world.

    Ping

Here, I dig out the old email exchange with S on Carbon Neutral issue. It is still exciting to see people do their best effort to minimize their product’s environment impact.

    Dear S:

I am so proud of you and your team’s commitment in this great initiative. I know you want to do this. I just did not expect you to do it so soon and so determined.

Your information sheet is one of the simplest and most precise writing I have ever read for a long time. Food miles is the hottest subjects in local organic growers. I still think the better argument is the local economy, nutritious, health and taste. As you said the food miles sometime is misleading because you did not count in the economy scale advantage. There is an excellent article in The Economist long time ago to this point of contention. You also explain the Carbon Neutral, CarbonNZero program and Carbon Credits very well. I also admire your goal for a Zero Food Miles. I am so happy that I am partnering with you. You really walk your talk.

I also want to commend New Zealand government to take the lead to encourage this kind of initiative so New Zealand won’t be sold short under Food Miles movement.

Did Glass bottle is better than plastic bottle? Now, the bottled water bashing is mostly around the disposable challenge. Glass bottle may have bigger Food Miles, but the degradable issue is no issue. Right?

When I read this article in Fast Company magazine, I immediately think about you and Antipodes. I also know that there is city in the States (SF ) starts to ban using bottled water in State function or property.

We are doing great with Nonzero restaurant and lifestyle retail store now.

    Be the change,

    Ping

    Subject: Antipodes Carbon Neutral

    Dear Ping:

Its official The Antipodes Water Company is Carbon Neutral, we received the confirmation this morning from the CarboNZero programme director that we are the first premium artesian water to be carbon zero rated.
I have attached a copy of our impending press release along with an information sheet that I have given to my sales team here to help answer any questions that may pop up.

http://www.pots.com.tw/taxonomy/term/30

    Have a nice day!
